Diving in Tenerife

The marine depths of Tenerife is privileged beauty, the waters are clean, crystal clear and calm with temperatures that vary little throughout the year. The rich fauna covers 500 species and the high visibility underwater landscapes are crawling with caves, volcanic pipes and other wrecks; sunken ships from centuries ago. If you have never dared to try diving before, try it on your holiday in Tenerife: You can select from among an extensive network of institutions providing beginners courses and scheduled dives both day and night. There are also places to hire safe equipment so you don't have to bring it in your suitcase.

A little known activity and very rewarding. Several trips are organised from sports marinas in the south and boats can be hired with or without crew for fishing days. Get out to sea. There are large tunas, swordfish, gilthead... or the great blue marlin or "picudo" of up to 650 kilos in weight.

Sailing trips - whale and dolphin watching trips in Tenerife

A sailing trip at sunset is feasible, with marine breezes caressing the skin and gliding over deep, blue waters. Tenerife offers affordable ways to enjoy these trips with regular wind channels between islands at a routine force of between 4 and 5 on the Beaufort scale. As usual there are sailing courses for beginners and light sailing vessels for hire or cruisers for longer trips.

Cetaceans - whale and dolphin watching in Tenerife

How many times have you had the opportunity to see whales and dolphins in their own habitat? In the Tenerife waters you can find up to 21 different species of cetaceans, from the giant blue whale to the terrible killer whales, as well as the short finned whale also known as the pilot whale and bottlenose dolphins. To see them you have to get on one of the many excursion boats that leave 365 days of the year from the following marinas: Los Cristianos, Puerto Colón and Los Gigantes.
